Understand Your Aerobic Septic System

We'll Help You Keep Your System in Good Working Order

When you own an aerobic wastewater treatment system, you essentially own a small version of a municipal sewage plant. Your system mirrors many of the processes and issues you'd see at a big urban site, but it's all in your backyard!

Let Brannon Septic help you stay on top of problems. Our thorough cleanings and careful evaluations will help your system give you reliable service for a long time to come!

Oxygen Boosts Natural Microorganism Processes

As with a conventional septic system, an aerobic system begins with using natural processes to treat wastewater from your toilets, tubs, sinks, and more. But unlike a conventional system, the process is boosted along by the introduction of oxygen into the septic tank.

Fed into the system through a pump, the extra oxygen increases the natural bacterial consumption of waste products.

Multiple Chambers Allow for Greater Effectiveness

The best aerobic septic systems have multiple chambers in a pretreatment tank and a final treatment tank. The pretreatment tank traps substances like grease, toilet paper, oils, and other wastes, and prevents them from entering the aerobic chamber.

Once the wastewater enters the aerobic chamber, where the compressed oxygen increases the bacterial process, solids are consumed by microorganisms and remaining waste gathers in a settling or clarifying chamber. Wastewater then moves to a pumping chamber where it is exposed to highly concentrated unstabilized chlorine tablets.

Aerobic Systems Offer Versatile Absorption Fields

With a multi-chamber system, the resulting wastewater discharge is so clean and pure that it can be released through sprinklers right over your absorption field!

If you're a homeowner who doesn't want to cut down trees to create an absorption field or if you live close to a body of water where the danger of pollution is high, these sprinkler systems are a real plus.
